Dressed in Beauty

I was thrilled one day to see our indoor plant blossoming after about five years. When my husband gave this indoor plant to me as a gift, I didn’t know it was a flower plant, so I was so joyful to see small pink flowers starting to bloom. God’s provision of beautiful clothing to these plants is a lovely reminder of God’s commitment to provide for His children.

“And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith?” – Matthew 6:28-30

God has clothed flowers with beauty and God has promised to do the same to His children. Not only will God clothe them, but He will also provide for all their physical needs.

“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:31-33

In his sermon “The Provision of Prayer”, John MacArthur, explaining Matthew 6:25-31 says:  “I believe that the reason God says, I will take over this area if you’ll just acknowledge that I’m the source of it; I’ll take over this area so that you don’t have to get stuck at that level, and you invest your life in the kingdom and in the matter of righteousness, and all the rest of that stuff will take care of itself, as I deal with it.  That’s a tremendous principle people.  The world, the pagans, seek after the human level, the physical level.  We don’t because God promises to supply that for us.”
